Wiscasset Raceway sold
Kingfield couple buys the foreclosed racetrack, says they plan to re-open
A Kingfield man and his wife bought the Wiscasset Raceway at auction July 12.
Richard and Vanessa Jordan will pay $130,000 for the foreclosed property, which they plan to re-open. Richard Jordan used to race at the Wiscasset Raceway and said after the auction the property will remain a racetrack.
Jordan, who owns a Kingfield lumber company, said he didn't come to the auction planning to buy the property. He was hoping somebody with “deep pockets” would buy it, “but we’ll do it,” he said.
After the auction a swam of attendees congratulated Jordan, many of them offering to help him re-open the track.
