Wiscasset readies for storm: Parking ban, WCC plan
Wiscasset will have a parking ban from 6 p.m. Wednesday to noon Friday, Town Manager Dennis Simmons said ahead of a snow and wind storm.
“Hopefully everything will be done by then (noon Friday) but it looks like it’s going to be a pretty prolonged storm,” Simmons told selectmen Tuesday night. He said Wiscasset Community Center will be “up and running, hopefully” its normal hours, for people to charge phones, get water, take a shower, or get warm, he said. There is not enough staffing to offer that overnight, “but if somebody’s in a real bind, they can always call dispatch. They’ll get a hold of one of us and we’ll try and see what we can do ...,” he said.
Public Works Director Ted Snowdon and his crew are ready for the storm, Simmons said.
“Hopefully we’ve already lost all the trees we can lose,” Chair Sarah Whitfield said, drawing laughter.
“We keep losing them. The rate it’s been going, there has to be an ending somewhere,” Simmons said.
“We are the most forested state in the country,” Selectman Pam Dunning said.
