Wiscasset students help with community cleanup
In recognition of Earth Day, a community roadside cleanup in Wiscasset took place in heavy drizzle April 27. Wiscasset resident Cindy Collamore organized it. About 11 people participated, many of them high school students.
The cleanup took place on Willow Lane and Bradford Street, shortly after 8 a.m.
The Wiscasset Newspaper caught up with three volunteers from Wiscasset Middle High Sch00l on Willow Lane. Seniors Matthew Chapman, Chris Loyola and Josh Gabriele were gathering up bottles and cans in bright orange vests. They said another group of volunteers were ahead at Willow and Bradford.
Police provided an escort with flashing lights to alert motorists.
