Wiscasset Town Manager Dennis Simmons announced about 5 p.m. Monday, the town office is closed until further notice “due to a town office employee exhibiting signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

“Many services, such as vehicle re-registration can be conducted online. We take this action out of an abundance of caution for the welfare of the town’s employees and the public,” Simmons said in the press release. “This closure affects only the town office. All other municipal buildings remain open with appropriate precautions. At this time, we do not believe any member of the public has been exposed. Information will be updated on the town website, town community sign and local press.”
