The Alna General Store is the site of a local art show. What began as an idea to show local children’s art in a public space, has grown into a pool of artists of all ages.
When curator, Helena Solorzano, put out the word about the upcoming show, several local artists responded. “At this moment, I have 11 students’ participating and seven adults - but most likely, we will have more items from each adult.”
The impetus for the event is for community connection and personal sharing. The art will have a range of forms, Helena Solórzano said, from visual to tactile. Moreover, some of the art may be sold, while some pieces will be for display only.
“Many of our neighbors and customers are excited to see what so many artists will bring,” store owner Jane Solorzano said.
The show opened June 30 and will remain on display through Sunday, July 15.
The Alna General Store is located at 2 Dock Rd. in Alna.
