Gravel roads workshop postponed to Nov. 7
Midcoast Conservancy and the Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District will be hosting a gravel roads workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Fire Station. This workshop, subtitled Non-Traditional Solutions to Gravel Road Problems, is being provided for contractors, municipal officials, road associations, and homeowners as an interactive experience to learn best methods for gravel road construction and maintenance. A classroom portion will be followed by field visits to view the applied theory. Speakers will include Peter Coughlan of Maine DOT and David Rocque, the Maine State Soil Scientist. The workshop is being supported in part by a US EPA grant to prevent pollution and improve water quality in the Damariscotta Lake watershed. The $45 fee includes morning coffee and lunch.
