Community forum on recycling and trash disposal in Lincoln County Aug. 22
On Thursday, Aug 22, Talking Trash!, a project created by Mark Ward and Michael Uhl, will present “A Community Forum on Recycling and Trash Disposal in Lincoln County” at 6 p.m. at the Round Top Campus of the Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust in Damariscotta. The forum will be entertaining, interactive, and informational.
Since December 2018, Mark and Michael have contributed 18 op-ed length commentaries (in the form of letters-to-the-editor) to the Lincoln County News. Their contributions have focused on recent developments in recycling and waste management and the impact on the nineteen towns of Lincoln County, their transfer stations, and the county's recycling facility. Their investigation has taken them to most of the principal material recovery facilities, waste-to-energy plants, and landfills in Maine. Their orientation has been to educate themselves on the many aspects of this important economic and environmental sector, and to pass on what they've learned to readers. The forum will build on that foundation. Its principal objective will be to engage members of the community in a conversation about how we manage our trash in Lincoln County.
The forum is funded by a grant from the Maine Humanities Council. Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust and the Lincoln County News are co-sponsors. J.W. Oliver, editor of the Lincoln County News, will serve as moderator.
