Donna L. Martin
Donna Louise (Mim) Martin (nee Hurshman) began her next journey on Sept. 17, 2019 at the age of 86.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 28, 1933 to Mary (nee Shantery) and Norman Hurshman. She married her childhood sweetheart, James H. Martin (died 1992) in 1957 and together they had two children, Kimberly Anne and James Norman — her world.
Whether she was “Miss Donna” to the hairstyling community for 30 years in Cleveland, Donna Lou while catering, or Mim to her beloved grandchildren (Christine, Craig, Kourtnie and Ryan) and her Maine home, she was a force to be reckoned with. She loved life. She loved her family. She loved her sister, Connie and her brother, Neil. She loved her friends. She loved when family and friends would visit (It was always a highlight, Jerry and Melinda). She loved Horizon Catering. She loved cooking for the priests at St. Jerome’s and her “sisters” from Villa Angela. She loved the Cleveland Indians. She loved painting and writing poetry. She loved shopping for shoes, clothes and jewelry. She loved flowers and red birds. She loved East Boothbay and her adopted community. She loved her health care providers (Thank you Anne!). She loved little children and animals (especially Mia, Ruby, Clara and Twinkle!). She loved being a vital part of Eventide Specialties (the official taster!). She loved wine, cheese and Reese’s. She loved her girls at the shop and all her customers.
Kim was her rock. Denise was her angel. Jimmy and Sandy were her joy. She will be missed greatly, but her presence will live on … She touched so many lives and left her mark on everyone she met. In true Mim style, she wished for a big party to be held at Eventide Specialties at a later date. She wanted lots of food, wine, cheese and laughter. We will honor her. We will celebrate her. We will love her always.
