George Baker exhibit at AMC until February
Peruse the walls of Atlantic Motorcar (AMC) the next few months and you may be led to believe the art displayed is from numerous artists. Such is not the case. The origin of each unique piece originates from one talented local artist, Maine native, George Baker.
George Baker is a native of Cape Elizabeth who now resides in Georgetown. The UMaine grad has been painting recreationally in Maine and around the world for 45 years.
Inspired by both his father (who painted until he was 95 years old), and that iconic master, Winslow Homer, Baker’s art is as diverse in style as it is in subject matter.
From the contemporary geometric lines of a local abandoned bridge, to the classic element of rock and sea on the Maine coast, to the magnified view of a peony in the O’Keefe style, Baker’s art is impressively varied and inspiring.
The artist has displayed his work at the River Arts Gallery and Kefauver Gallery (both in Damariscotta); the Cyr and Roux Gallery in Portland; and at the Georgetown town office. In addition, his art is featured at local juried art festivals. Baker can be reached at mainerinva@gmail.com or georgewbaker.com.
Atlantic Motorcar is pleased to be featuring George Baker’s work until February 2020. The public is invited to stop in during our regular business hours -Monday through Friday , 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - to view this impressive exhibit.
AMC offers art space for artists creating with watercolor, print, acrylic, mixed media and/or print mediums. No commission or hanging fee is charged; the space is donated as a service and enrichment to the local art community and the community at large.
