Wiscasset FOS plans fundraising dinner
On March 14, Feed Our Scholars (FOS) will hold its annual fundraising dinner at 5 p.m. in St. Philip’s Lippiat Hall, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset. Snow date is March 21. But this event is a little quirky: a potluck recipe auction.
You may ask, how will this work? Well, bring a favorite main dish, salad, side dish, or dessert (or more than one) for sampling, along with a printed/written copy of the recipe for the dish.
After enjoying a delicious time tasting all or as many of the dishes as desired, get ready for brisk bidding. FOS auctioneer Suzanne Rankin will hold forth, auctioning off the recipes to the highest bidder, all funds to benefit the FOS programs. A jolly, delicious, time is sure to be had by all with the spirited but good natured bidding entertaining attendees.
The FOS Initiative supplies weekend packs of food for food insecure Wiscasset Elementary schoolchildren, but also provides healthy school snacks, a small school pantry, and along with the Parents in Education group, the new Set for Success event providing packs of school supplies to children attending the elementary school for a successful start of the school year.
Speaking of entertainment, Matt O’Donnell will perform during the dining portion of the evening, as he has for many other FOS fundraisers. A fun and talented artist on canvas as well as with the guitar, Matt’s strumming enriches an event.
But wait! If one doesn’t have a dish to share, don’t stay away: Attend, eat, bid, join the fun, and support Feed Our Scholars.
