Patients in the Boothbay region who need laboratory services can now enjoy extended hours in a familiar location. The Family Care Center (FCC) on the St. Andrews Campus will provide lab services Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Urgent Care Center will be open for lab work from 8 a.m. to noon.

The services will continue to be provided by NorDx care team members.

In late March, the FCC took over lab services in Boothbay Harbor when the Urgent Care Center temporarily suspended services due to other pressing needs brought on by COVID-19. Services at the FCC has been popular with patients and has created an opportunity for additional access to services.

“Our patients seem to be very comfortable with having their lab work here,’’ said Carol McClure, FCC Practice Manager. “They know our names and faces, which makes things easier. Beginning services at 7:30 is a real benefit for those who need to fast before their lab work and being open until 6 p.m. is helpful to working families.”

The Urgent Care Center is being used on Saturdays to be more efficient, as the number of visits for lab services is extremely low.

While there is no appointment needed, patients now have the option of scheduling an appointment for a lab service. A scheduled appointment makes for speedier check-in and less wait time. It also supports social distancing.
