Waldo Theatre looking to cast volunteers
We’re ready to start reupholstering the Waldo Theatre's seats and we need your help:
Waldo Board Member and sailmaker, Heidi Sawyer, and two of her professional upholstering friends are standing by to revive our 1930s seats with updated cushions and new fabric. Before they can do this, the seats and backs have to be disassembled and prepped for fabric. That’s where you come in.
We’re scheduling three weekend work mornings, asking volunteers to come to the theatre and - safely distanced- take the old upholstery off the chairs, clean them up, and prep them for Heidi’s team to go to work.
The majority of the time we’ll be working outside in the parking lot behind the theatre at designated spots for teams of two to work on each part of the process. (Two teams will be inside for part of the time taking seats out of the theatre). Heidi will be on hand to demonstrate how to take the seats apart and show samples of what the finished work will look like.
Work mornings are from 9 a.m. to noon. They are: Saturday, Sept. 26, Sunday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 3. Go to https://volunteersignup.org/TBP7X?mc_cid=19c1564a4a&mc_eid=04d9851f4b to sign up for specific mornings. Bring a friend or family member - or both - and create your own seat squad!
Masks are required, inside and outside.
The Waldo Theatre is at 916 Main Street in Waldoboro.
