Edgecomb planning board approves 4 requests
The Edgecomb Planning Board approved four permits March 18 for a new business, deck addition, new shed and a two-car garage. Scott Libby is buying the old NT Winters building at 289 U.S. Route 1 and will lease the building to Royal River Heat Pumps. The board voted unanimously for his requested change of use. Libby plans on changing the former carpet business to a heat pump showroom. Libby told the board he expects the sale to close May 1, and the new business to open by June 1.
Fort Road resident Corning Townsend received conditional approval to construct a deck on his non-conforming guest house. As a condition, Townsend must remove his guest house’s current deck. The lower deck is 73 square feet and the new, higher deck 58 square feet. Townsend reported the new deck would make his property “less non-conforming” and it would allow guests a place to sit outside during the coronavirus pandemic.
The board also approved two applications for new residents Ernest and Lauren Stockwell who moved to their new Cross Point Road home last fall, after living 40 years in Southport. The Stockwells received approval to build a garden shed behind an existing garage. The couple also want to build a two-car garage with a studio/storage space on the second floor. This structure is on an adjacent lot owned by a realty trust, according to Ernest Stockwell. He also said the new structure would not require plumbing.
The board meets next at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1.
