Lincoln Home donates summer camp scholarship to Merry Barn
Stephanie Noyes McSherry, founder of Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat & Educational Consulting, has been working with residents at The Lincoln Home helping them engage in writing and sharing stories, adventures and memories from their lives. The group, who have met weekly since the fall, look forward to their time together.
Stephanie inspires creativity through story reading, sharing of quotes, words of encouragement, personal observations and prompts. She has helped the group think about events, both life changing and ordinary, that have impacted their lives. Over time, the participants have become much closer through their sharing of stories, poems, collages, laughter and trust.
To thank Stephanie for the generosity of her time and talent, The Lincoln Home presented her with a check that will enable a child to attend a week of summer camp at the Merry Barn, located in Edgecomb. Week long writing adventures help children cultivate creativity and curiosity through writing, reading, creating art, being in nature, and practicing yoga. Camps and book groups are offered for ages 8-14, with a special week for 6-7 year olds. For more information or to register, please visit www.merrybarn.com. Financial assistance is available.
The Lincoln Home is an all inclusive, vibrant community for seniors, located at 22 River Road in Newcastle. To learn more about the many activities and events that seniors enjoy, or events open to the public, please visit www.lincoln-home.org or follow The Lincoln Home on Facebook.
