Skidompha book shop eases some COVID-19 restrictions
In light of new federal and state guidelines, the Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta no longer limits the number of customers allowed in the shop at one time.
Volunteers who staff the shop continue to wear masks and request that patrons wear them as well.
Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, explains, “Young children come into the shop, and we have other customers who for various reasons have not been able to be vaccinated. Masks are available at the door for those who don’t have their own.”
Sanitizers are available for those who want to use them. Customers are asked to use their discretion in maintaining social distance.
The shop, located at 17 Backstreet Landing, is a major fundraiser for Skidompha Public Library. All items are donated and all staff members are volunteers.
It’s open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations are accepted on those days between 8 -10 a.m., at the back door, with a limit of up to four boxes or bags per person per visit.
