Boothbay Harbor police help fish car out of ocean
At 1:04 a.m. Aug. 15, Boothbay Harbor police responded to a vehicle off the road and into the ocean on Western Avenue. Officers Jennifer Gosselin and John Braley found the driver out of the vehicle with minor injuries. Officers provided Daniel Thomas Boyle, 27, of Boothbay Harbor and Port St. Lucie, Florida with medical care. After officers investigated, Boyle was arrested for operating under the influence.
A Boothbay Harbor police press release also reported Boothbay Harbor Fire Department and Boothbay Region Ambulance Service helped at the scene. A fire department diver assisted in connecting the vehicle to a tow truck and removing it from the water.
The police department made five arrests between July 31 and Aug. 24. On July 31, Gosselin and Braley arrested Charles Chappelle, 18, of East Boothbay for driving to endanger, failure to register a vehicle and operation of a defective vehicle. Braley arrested Nicole Craft, 39, of Springvale for domestic assault and disorderly conduct.
On Aug. 2, Braley arrested Mary Caporale, 70, of Boothbay Harbor for operating under the influence and disorderly conduct. On Aug. 4, Braley arrested Nicholas Richio, 39, of Boothbay Harbor for operating under the influence with one prior. On Aug. 16, Officer Larry Brown arrested Dixie Gauthier, 42, of Bristol on a failure to appear warrant.
