This week at the Lincoln Theater
All of us at Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater wish you a very Happy Holiday. As a holiday treat, we hope you will join us for “A Christmas Story,” the 1983 Christmas classic, playing on the big screen for free Dec. 22 an 23 at 2 p.m. A fun way to kick off the holiday weekend. Lincoln Theater will be closed Christmas Day, Dec. 25, and we will reopen Sunday, Dec. 26 with “Dune” – an absolute must see on the big screen! Please note: the open house planned for Dec. 31 has been postponed out of an abundance of caution.
“Belfast” - (PG-13; 1 hour, 38 minutes) - A poignant story of love, laughter and loss in one boy’s childhood, amid the music and social tumult of the late 1960s. “Belfast” is a movie straight from Branagh’s own experience. A nine-year-old boy must chart a path towards adulthood through a world that has suddenly turned upside down. His stable and loving community and everything he thought he understood about life is changed forever but joy, laughter, music and the formative magic of the movies remain. Final show times Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 2 and 7 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m.
“A Christmas Story” – Free show! - (PG; 1 hour, 33 minutes) - Based on the humorous writings of author Jean Shepherd, this beloved holiday movie follows the wintry exploits of youngster Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley), who spends most of his time dodging a bully (Zack Ward) and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a Red Ryder air rifle. Frequently at odds with his cranky dad (Darren McGavin), but comforted by his doting mother (Melinda Dillon), Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and his hopes intact. No reservations necessary. Playing Thursday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 24 at 2 p.m.
“Dune” - (PG-13; 2 hours, 35 minutes) - A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence – a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential only those who can conquer their fear will survive. Based on the novel by Frank Herbert. A must see on the big screen! Playing Sunday, Dec. 26 at 2 p.m.; and at 2 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29 and Thursday, Dec. 30.
