This week at the Lincoln Theater
Oscar season is upon us and Lincoln Theater is thrilled to offer the full line-up of Oscar nominated short films opening this Friday, with all three categories - Animation, Live Action, and Documentary - screening at varying times through Thursday, March 3. This year’s contenders include productions from Germany, Spain, Afghanistan, Switzerland, and Denmark. According to ShortsTV CEO and Founder Carter Pilcher, “This batch of Oscar contenders will blow your minds: They’re that good, that shocking and that entertaining. We promise 15 of the best movies you’ll see this year.”
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” - (PG-13; 2 hours, 28 minutes) - For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super-Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse. Final show times: 2 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 and Thursday, Feb. 24.
2022 Oscar Nominated Short Films - For more than 15 years, ShortsTV has proudly brought the Oscar Nominated Short Films to audiences across the globe. This special release features the year’s most spectacular short films and for a limited time is available to watch on the big screen. Each nominee is released in one of three distinct feature-length compilations according to their category of nomination.
Live Action (R; 2 hours, 1 minute): “Ala Kachuu — Take and Run,” “The Dress,” “The Long Goodbye,” “On My Mind,” and “Please Hold.” Playing at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 and Wednesday, March 2; and at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.
Animation (R; 1 hour, 37 minutes): “Affairs of the Art,” “Bestia,” “Boxballet,” “Robin Robin,” and “The Windshield Wiper.” Playing at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 and Wednesday, March 2; plays at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26 and Thursday, March 3.
Documentary - (R; 2 hours, 40 minutes): “Audible,” “Lead Me Home,” “The Queen of Basketball,” “Three Songs for Benazir,” and “When We Were Bullies.” Playing Sunday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
“The Apartment” - (1960; 2 hours, 5 minutes) - The final film in season 4 of the Classic Film Club. Insurance worker C.C. Baxter (Jack Lemmon) lends his Upper West Side apartment to company bosses to use for extramarital affairs. When his manager Mr. Sheldrake (Fred MacMurray) begins using Baxter’s apartment in exchange for promoting him, Baxter is disappointed to learn that Sheldrake’s mistress is Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine), the elevator girl at work whom Baxter is interested in himself. Soon Baxter must decide between the girl he loves and the advancement of his career. Film Historian Jeannie MacDonald will be joining us for a pre-film presentation and post-film talk-back. Tickets $8 adult, $6 members and youth 18 and under; FREE for Classic Film Club Members. Playing Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. and Friday, March 4 at 2 p.m.
