This week at the Lincoln Theater
Dogs … the perfect companion. They are loyal. They love, support, protect and defend. Human beings have relationships with dogs that they simply can’t have with other humans. With all that being said, what could be better than a movie about humankind’s best friend. “Dog” opens this Friday.
“Death on the Nile” - (PG-13; 2 hours, 7 minutes) - Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot’s Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert vistas and the majestic Giza pyramids, this tale of unbridled passion and incapacitating jealousy features a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travelers, and enough wicked twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the final, shocking denouement. Final shows at 2 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 7.
“Dog” - (PG-13; 1 hour 41 minutes) - A buddy comedy that follows the misadventures of two former Army Rangers paired against their will on the road trip of a lifetime. Army Ranger Briggs (Channing Tatum) and Lulu (a Belgian Malinois dog) buckle into a 1984 Ford Bronco and race down the Pacific Coast in hopes of making it to a fellow soldier’s funeral on time. Along the way, they’ll drive each other completely crazy, break a small handful of laws, narrowly evade death, and learn to let down their guards in order to have a fighting chance of finding happiness. Playing Friday, April 8 at 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, April 9 at 2 and 7 p.m.; Sunday, April 10 at 5 p.m. and Wednesday, April 13 at 2 p.m.

“Anything Goes” - (NR; 2 hours, 36 minutes) - When the S.S. American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention head out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love… proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, a comical disguise, and some good old-fashioned blackmail. This hilarious musical romp across the Atlantic, directed by the multi-award-winning Broadway director and choreographer Kathleen Marshall, features Cole Porter’s joyful score, including “I Get A Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top” and the show stopping “Anything Goes.” The musical equivalent of sipping one glass of champagne after another, “Anything Goes” will take you back to the Golden Age of high society on the seas from the comfort of your cinema seat.
