This week at Lincoln Theater
For the lovers of live theater, you don’t want to miss the incredible talents of the Y Arts youth performers as they take the stage this weekend. And for the concert goers, Adam Ezra Group is with us for a special Memorial Day concert brought to you by the Fish Ladder Restoration project.
“Camille Pissarro – Father of Impressionism” - Exhibition On Screen - (1 hour, 30 minutes) - Without Camille Pissarro, there is no Impressionist movement. He is rightfully known as the father of Impressionism. It was a dramatic path that Pissarro followed, and throughout it all he wrote extensively to his family. It is through these intimate and revealing letters that this gripping film reveals Pissarro’s life and work. The Ashmolean Museum (the UK’s first ever public museum) houses a wonderfully rich collection, including the remarkable Pissarro archive. With exclusive access to the most extensive archive of any Impressionist painter, and to the first major Pissarro retrospective in four decades, this film explores and highlights the enthralling and hugely important biography and output of an incredible artist. “Downton Abbey: A New Era” - (PG; 2 hours, 4 minutes) - Want to win some Downton Abbey merchandise? Come see it at The Lincoln! The much-anticipated cinematic return of the global phenomenon reunites the beloved cast as they go on a grand journey to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess’ newly inherited villa. Continues Thursday, May 26 at 2 p.m.; Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 28 at 1 p.m. (earlier matinee) and 7 p.m.; Sunday, May 29 at 2 p.m.; and at 2 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2.
“Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids” – The Y Arts youth are at it again and are wrapping up rehearsals for their spring production. Forty local youth will present “Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids” at the Lincoln Theater on May 27 and May 28 . The cast features performances by Y Arts youth old and new, ages 5-14. Based on the classic story by Mary Pope Osborne, the musical follows siblings Annie and Jack as they find a magic tree house and travel back in time to a world of dinosaurs. Don’t miss this adorable show live on the Lincoln Theater stage. Playing Friday, May 27 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets: $5.
Adam Ezra Group concert - Adam Ezra and his band mates – Corinna Smith (fiddle), Alex Martin (drums), Poche Ponce (bass) – regularly perform hundreds of shows a year without any major label or mainstream radio support, fusing folk intimacy and rock energy with soul Monday, May 30 at 4 p.m. A Fish Ladder Concert.
