The Skidompha Strummers Aug. 27
The Skidompha Strummers ukulele ensemble will perform outside the Skidompha library’s front door in downtown Damarsicotta from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, International Play Music on the Porch Day.
They’ll play and sing an eclectic mix – popular songs, folk, rock, and others – and invite listeners to sing along. On Music on the Porch Day they will join thousands of performers in dozens of countries sharing their music outside.
The Strummers group, created by the library in 2017, played on “Porch Day” in 2018 and 2019, then missed the last two years because of the pandemic. This is their first public performance since Covid, though they’ve practiced weekly throughout the pandemic, often on Zoom.
The library’s uke group is always open to new members. Anyone who owns a ukulele and knows a few basic chords and strumming patterns is welcome to join. Weekly practices take place Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Porter Meeting Room at the library. All practices are open to the public.
