Crashes on Donald E. Davey Bridge and Main Street, Wiscasset hurt Wiscasset woman, Thomaston man
At 6:38 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, Lincoln County Communications Center received a report of an accident on the Wiscasset bridge. A 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by Ursula Schumann, 56, of Wiscasset was traveling south on the bridge when she ran into the back of a 2004 Ford Expedition driven by Reynold Schweickhardt, 25, of Thomaston.
Schumann’s vehicle suffered major damage to the front end. Schumann continued south onto Main Street and crossed the centerline hitting a 2017 Ford F-350 Dead River service truck driven by Shane Butterfield, 27, of Windsor.
Wiscasset EMS and Central Lincoln County (CLC) Ambulance took Schumann and Schweickhardt to Miles Hospital in Damariscotta for non-life-threatening injuries. Wiscasset Fire Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Department of Transportation helped with the incident.
The accidents interrupted traffic on Route 1 for almost two hours during the morning traffic rush. Wiscasset Police Chief Larry Hesseltine and School Resource Officer Jonathan Barnes are investigating and ask that anyone with information contact Wiscasset Police Department at 207-882-8203.
