Wellness and Rehabilitation Center marks opening with ribbon cutting
The new Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in the Webster Van Winkle Building was officially welcomed to LincolnHealth’ s Miles campus with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on Thursday, March 2.
Greater Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce Director Lisa Hagen was joined by several members of the Chamber board to participate in the event. LincolnHealth President Cindy Wade, BSN, MHA delivered brief remarks, noting the project was delayed due to the arrival of COVID-19 in 2020. A $1.5 million increase in construction costs occurred during the delay, and many members of our community made donations to close the funding deficit.
“We are so grateful to all of those who helped with this project,’’ Wade said. “We’ve been very fortunate over the years to benefit from the support of our communities.”
The flagship area of the 2,800-square foot facility is its performance center. It offers state-of-the art equipment, plenty of open space, natural light and views of the Damariscotta River. The Center also features several private treatment rooms, a dedicated room for splinting and other areas for education and nutrition services. Services offered at the Center include speech/language, physical and occupational therapies and specialized programs such as lymphedema, vestibular rehab, diabetes services, pelvic health and sports rehab.
Director of Wellness and Rehabilitation Kelly Creamer shared her thanks to all who worked on the project. She’s excited about expanded patient care and a better patient experience with new equipment, convenient parking, comfortable surroundings and a highly skilled team of therapists and educators.
“Our team is phenomenal,’’ Creamer said. “It’s important to remember that the space doesn’t make the therapist, the therapist makes the space.”
LincolnHealth hopes to offer a public open house and facility tours later in the spring or summer.
