Free career services offered by Midcoast adult education programs
Maine Department of Education is helping eligible adults recover from the impact of Covid-19 through a variety of free academic and job training opportunities, including the services of career advancement navigators.
Navigator Cassie Robichaux works with Midcoast adult education programs to connect one-on-one with adults to develop career plans and map out training pathways. She coordinates with business and training partners to create opportunities and experiences adults need to level up their job skills.
Robichaux is an experienced adult learning, leadership, and career development professional, who applies a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to meeting the needs of her clients.
“My passion is helping every client build their personal and professional toolkit, particularly Mainers who are overcoming significant obstacles,” Robichaux said in a news release.
Robichaux is available to meet with clients in person at any local adult education site in Sagadahoc, Knox, Lincoln, and Waldo counties or via Zoom.
For an appointment, email cassie.robichaux@msad40.org, or contact a Midcoast adult education program. Programs include Belfast, Boothbay Region, Central Lincoln County, Five Towns, Merrymeeting (Brunswick, MSAD 75, RSU 1, Wiscasset), Mid-Coast School of Technology, RSU 3, RSU 13, and Midcoast (RSU 12 and RSU 40).
The career advancement navigator program is funded by the Maine Job’s and Recovery Plan through which $6 million was committed to address the workforce development needs of communities with less access to post-secondary and other educational opportunities, as well as support services. These areas include York, Kennebec, Androscoggin, Oxford, Lincoln, Waldo, Knox, and Sagadahoc counties.
Additionally, adult education coordinators will sit at each of the seven community college campuses. Coordinators will be responsive to the needs of current and prospective community college students who may need additional assistance with advising and career planning or in acquiring the academic skills to successfully complete college-level work. Adult education students will also be provided with the assistance and support needed to make a successful transition to community college.
