CTL welcomes spring interns
The Center for Teaching and Learning, a K-8 independent school in Edgecomb, hosted two groups of teacher-interns this spring. The school welcomes groups of teacher-interns from all over the country and the world. Teachers from Massachusetts, Washington D.C., New Jersey, California, Missouri, and Quebec traveled to CTL this school year. For over thirty years, teachers have visited Edgecomb for a week at a time to observe methods developed by CTL’s faculty and adapt them to their own classrooms and schools.
Although not a charter school, CTL accomplishes what charter schools were conceived to do—innovate, and then pass along successful methods to teachers for their classrooms. Faculty members experiment thoughtfully, write books and give presentations, are featured in educational DVDs about CTL’s programs, and demonstrate their methods in-person to the visiting teachers.
More than six hundred teachers from forty-five states, Washington, D.C., Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, England, India, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Uganda have participated so far in the CTL intern program. Only classroom teachers may apply to become interns; the fee they pay helps underwrite tuition assistance for CTL students.
CTL has openings in select grades for the 2023-24 school year.
