Offerings for all ages at St. Giles Country Fair July 29
Young to old should have a great time at this year’s annual fundraising event for St. Giles Episcopal Church in Jefferson, as activities outside under the pines are planned to entice all ages. The fair takes place Saturday July 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 72 Gardiner Road in Jefferson.
There will be many items raffled, plus a country cupboard, “heavenly” homemade pies, and tables of treasures including antiques donated by parishioners and others.
One of the raffles is for a beautiful queen-size quilt handmade by the Rev. Molly Sherm. Also being raffled are a beach day package, a camping weekend, and certificates offered by local businesses for restaurant meals, beauty care, and other items.
For children, a variety of activities, all free of cost, are planned, such as fishing, ring toss, an archaeological “dig” for bones, and the Hobby Horse Derby, starting at 11 a.m., hosted by Giles, the church mouse. Winners of the different jump levels will receive trophies. New this year for the young racers – barrel racing! A belt buckle will be the prize in the barrel racing. Wear your fastest “horseshoes” (sneakers).
In addition, some 16 vendors will be offering a variety of items for sale at their tables, including handmade knit socks, jewelry, lobster rope rugs and floral arrangements.
A food truck with tasty offerings and beverages will be on site and parishioners will be offering hot dogs and sausages on the grille.
Throughout the day music will background the event, provided by Heart ‘n Soul, Rich Serianni, Orville Lee, and Fealy and the Burbanks.
So mark your calendars and plan to attend this fun event, to be held rain or shine. Funds from the event will help support St. Giles and its Outreach Programs, which include the Jefferson Area Community Food Bank, Home for Little Wanderers, and Episcopal Relief and Development.
