Second Hearts of Hope event at Boothbay Legion Aug. 17
Eleven people participated in the Aug. 3 Hearts of Hope painting for a purpose event held at the Charles E. Sherman Post 36 American Legion hall in Boothbay, according to one of the organizers, Diane Demetriades.
“Great conversations and (we) made new friends. I was lucky to have friends visiting from Connecticut, and a friend driving from Gorham ... some from the Auxiliary,” Demetriades said. “Judy Pedersen (the founder of Hearts of Hope) thinks that is a great start for something new to this area. Most people went over the suggested $5 donation which helps pay for the clay, paint, firing of hearts in the kiln, packaging … so we can give this free heart to the veterans on Honor Flight.”
Demetriades said 19 hearts are done of the 130 they need for the September and October flights. All are welcome.
A second Heart of Hope painting for a purpose event will be held at the Legion hall on Thursday, Aug. 17 between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. The Legion hall is located at 25 Industrial Park Road, off Route 27, in Boothbay.
