Design-build firm Knickerbocker Group is pleased to announce it has established a named fund with the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund (BRSAF). Since 1964, the BRSAF has been committed to providing need-based financial assistance to Boothbay Region High School graduates seeking education beyond the secondary level. Through the continued generosity of individuals, community organizations, and businesses, the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund has been able to assist a significant portion of educational expenses for members of the local community.

Intrinsic to the core mission of Knickerbocker Group is supporting organizations making a positive impact on local communities throughout Maine. By investing in the education and advancement of local students through assisting unmet financial needs, the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund opens the door for students to complete their education and pursue their potential. A portion of Knickerbocker Group’s named fund will support a student pursuing a career in Dental Medicine during their 2023/2024 school year.

This isn’t the first time Knickerbocker Group has supported the mission of the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund. In 1997, Steve Malcom, Knickerbocker Group founder/CEO, and friends, started a Memorial Fund to honor Tim Allen, a fallen employee of the firm. The fund was fully funded in 2002 and has been integral in providing financial support to students who aspire to careers in the trades. A portion of the Tim Allen fund will support a Civil Engineering student in their 2023/2024 school year.

This year the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund has set an ambitious goal of raising $250,000 for its annual Fund Drive. Each year, the monies raised during the annual fund campaign are combined with funds from investments to fund awards.  All awards are need-based grants, not loans. For the 2023/2024 academic year, BRSAF was proud to provide grants for 59 eligible BRHS graduates totaling over $465,000. Grants were awarded to both graduating seniors and BRHS alumni providing additional years of study, including students who return to programs later in life. In addition to traditional four-year college careers, students are also pursuing programs in vocational training, community colleges, graduate studies, and professional training. BRSAF grants help local graduates, and their families close the gap in paying their education costs and reduce their potential student debt.
