Making spirits bright!
Red and green were the colors of the morning Saturday for the annual Yuletide “Hanging of the Greens” on Wiscasset’s Main Street. Volunteers teamed up to wind evergreen garland, hang wreaths on lamp posts and string lights.
Coordinating the event were team leaders: Jan and Larry Flowers, along with Ann and Mark Light, Betsy and Leo Egan, Alissa Eason and Christopher Hart, Canny Cahn and Wiscasset Selectwoman Terry Heller served as team leaders for the annual event. Hot cider and homemade treats were provided by the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce. Saturday’s event coincided with the Wiscasset business community’s “Early Bird Weekend” featuring sales and discounts for holiday shoppers looking for bargains.
If you missed out, and want do some holiday decorating as well Wiscasset Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteer help beginning Tuesday, Nov. 14 and continuing all next week. This includes trimming 30 holiday trees along Main Street, on the Creamery Pier and around the municipal building. The annual Holiday tree lighting is planned for Saturday evening, Dec. 2.
