Love is in the air, and Midcoast Humane invites you to embark on a journey to find your PAW-fect companion this Valentine's Day season! Join us on Friday, Feb. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at our adoption center located at 5 Industrial Parkway in Brunswick for a unique Speed Dating event with a furry twist.

Animal lovers will have the chance to experience the magic of connection with our adorable, adoptable dogs and cats. Attendees will spend two minutes with each adoptable pet, discovering their personalities, and potentially finding a lifelong companion with whom to share their heart and home.

“For folks who aren’t sure what they might be looking for in a new pet, speed dating is an ideal way to meet a variety of pets in a no-pressure environment, and have fun while doing it,” stated Jess Townsend, executive director of Midcoast Humane.

Midcoast Humane will share “dating profiles” of the pets selected for this event on their social media channels leading up Feb. 9. According to Townsend, “as of today, we have almost 300 animals in our care, and each of them needs a loving home. Anything we can do to help bring attention to these homeless animals and bring them closer to being adopted is a win for the shelter, the adopters, and of course, the animals.”

The event is open to all animal lovers: not just people interested in adopting. "Our goal is not only to create lasting connections between humans and animals but also to provide a heartwarming and enjoyable experience for everyone involved," said Townsend. "Whether you're ready to add a new member to your family or simply in need of some furry cuddles, the evening promises to be fun and entertaining."

Studies show that spending time with companion animals is beneficial for humans, and can lower blood pressure and decrease feelings of loneliness. The event celebrates the joy of companionship and the unspoken connections that can be forged between humans and animals.
