Kathryn E. Hauser
Kathryn E. Hauser was called home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2024 at her home in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, at the age of 86.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Kathy earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education and enjoyed her early career teaching elementary school in Connecticut and California. After marrying Gene, her loving husband of 60 years, she became a proud and dedicated homemaker, who found joy in supporting her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. It is fair to say that she never missed an event! She maintained a strong faith in God and was a kind, genuine woman with a joyful spirit, always seeing the best in people while striving to uplift those around her. She dearly loved her family, and served as a devoted family historian.
Kathy was an active member of St. Peters by the Sea Presbyterian church, where she served as a deacon and memorial services coordinator for 10 years. She enjoyed helping others in the community and volunteered as a docent at Banning Residential Museum, served at FISH food pantry, and tutored students learning English as a second language (ESL).
After retirement, Kathy and Gene spent 30 happy summers at their cottage in Maine, where she also worshiped at Southport United Methodist Church. She maintained wonderful life-long friends through her many activities and travels.
Kathy is survived by her husband Gene; her daughter Margaret (“Meg”); son-in-law Jeff; stepgrandsons Kyle and Cory; great-granddaughter Paisley; her daughter Carole; granddaughters Kathryn (“Katie”) and Courtney; and stepgranddaughter Ashley. She also leaves behind her sister Margaret (“Margie”), and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Kathy’s legacy of kindness, faith, and love will be forever cherished by those who knew her.
