‘Getting Along’: Student film collaboration with Heartwood and LA
It’s a wrap! The newest collaboration between Heartwood Theater and Lincoln Academy (LA) will premiere at the Lincoln Theater on Monday, June 10. “Getting Along” is a feature length film, written by LA student, Elias Bassett. A small, dedicated band of students crewed: Elias Basset - AD; Annalise Garnet and Eli Melanson - cinematography; Basset, Garnett and Melanson - editing; Sophia Scott - original score; Mitchell Straus - sound; Kateyln Prior and Taylin Lowe - wardrobe and costume.
Under the direction of Griff Braley, along with the invaluable wisdom, enthusiasm and help from Director of Photography David Martinez (Maine Media Instructor), dozens of students, staff and community actors took part in this epic project, with a 5-week shoot, a demanding schedule and nearly 100 hours on set.
Following 15 months of preproduction and shooting, editing is now in the final hours, and “Getting Along” will red carpet premiere at the Lincoln Theater, with two showings at 4 and 7 p.m. on Monday, June 10. Students will participate in a brief Q&A session on stage, following each viewing.
Reservations are strongly encouraged, and tickets are available only through the Lincoln Theater website (may also be purchased in advance, at their box office). Students are free, adults are $15 – general admission. Free popcorn will be available to all; concessions will also be for sale with the exception of alcoholic beverages.
Also available at this event will be tickets for Heartwood Theater’s Annual Fundraising Raffle, with four incredible prizes: a week’s stay in Northern Ireland, $1,000 Airbnb gift card, $1,000 in gift cards to ten local restaurants ($100 per location) and $1,000 in gift cards to local hardware and lumber stores.
Full details and the movie plot / cast are available at heartwoodtheater.org and lincolntheater.net.
All Heartwood student programming is supported by generous gifts Damariscotta Hardware, First National Bank, Bath Savings Institution and Chesterfield Associates, Inc., as well as two generous foundations and many individual donors.
Lincoln Academy and Heartwood Theater are grateful to Christina Belknap, Damon Leibert and the Lincoln Theater, for graciously welcoming and promoting this project, and to Emily Davey, owner of Macadamia, for generously opening the doors of her Airbnb for two days of filming.
