Trump reset II
Dear Editor:
The Aug. 29 issue of the LCN had a paid Republican ad. Using 22 bullet points, it identified issues that most would say are harming our country, others would say destroying it. Seven of the issues were challenges to our Constitution by the left, others are economic instability, inflation, endless foreign wars, the anti-police movement, a revolving door for criminals in our justice system, jobs leaving America, open borders, massive spending on illegals, lack of support for our veterans, lack of protection for the unborn, human/child trafficking, and our failing education system. Who could argue they have not become worse in the last four years? Who could argue that any of these should not be fixed?
Pretzels and politics rebutted that ad last week. It encourages changes to the constitution such as removal of legal protections for previous presidents and elimination of the electoral college. It spoke well of the Inflation Reduction act, had an issue that Trump visited Arlington Cemetery, talked about Christian Nationalism (the new name for Christians that love our country) and the demonizing of Muslims, burning of books, and abortion rights. I encourage all to reread both articles.
The argument is, Trump is a bad man, the Constitution should be fixed, the 22 concerns are “obfuscations, convolutions, and outright falsifications” and Trump should not be reelected. The conclusion is, the country should maintain its present course by keeping the current administration, its deep state, and policies in place. We should not go back to where we were in 2020.
First, an attack on our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and our Supreme Court are of particular concern. An attack on them is an attack on all of our freedoms. Then, take the time to think back to 2020, a world heading for peace, secure borders, low inflation, lower taxes, affordable living and hope. Take a look at government data, wages, employment, home ownership and even life expectancy at birth. Were you better off and safer then? If you want a reset, then vote for Trump and for a new administration. The choice is yours.
