For the past four years, I have thrown out an invitation on social media in August to sponsor my class so that each student can receive a brand new book each month, for holidays and to provide several books for summer reading. This project helps foster a love of reading, helps build students’ home libraries and provides my students with regular opportunities to show gratitude and practice letter writing skills!

Many of the sponsors have been a part of this project for all four years and include past WSD employees, current WSD employees, past students, past parents of students and friends. Last year's project resulted in several students gaining year-long pen pals with various sponsors! This year, we have 25 sponsors and my students were so excited recently to get their first books!

Yet another reason why I love teaching in Wiscasset and this community.
