"A Real Pain" - (R; 1 hour, 29 minutes) - Mismatched cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother. "Queer" - (R; 2 hours, 5 minutes) - 1950. William Lee (Daniel Craig), an American expat in Mexico City, spends his days almost entirely alone, except for a few contacts with other members of the small American community. His encounter with Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey), an expat former soldier, new to the city, shows him, for the first time, that it might be finally possible to establish an intimate connection with somebody. The MET Live in HD: "Aida"- (approx. running time: 3 hours, 38 minutes - one intermission) - Pre-opera talk by Dr. Morton Achter at 11:30 a.m. American soprano Angel Blue headlines as the Ethiopian princess torn between love and country in a new production of Verdi’s “Aida” by Michael Mayer that brings audiences inside the towering pyramids and gilded tombs of ancient Egypt with intricate projections and dazzling animations. Romanian-Hungarian mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi also stars as Aida’s rival, Amneris, alongside Polish tenor Piotr Beczała as the soldier Radamès—completing opera’s greatest love triangle. Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin takes the podium to conduct this Jan. 25 performance, being transmitted live from the Metropolitan Opera stage worldwide. Talking Art in Maine with John Knight - “Using Luminous colors, Portland-based painter, John Knight depicts the ever-changing nature of the plants and wildflowers he views in his own backyard or on frequent nature walks at Maine Audubon’s Gilsland Farm in Falmouth” – Kate Irish Collins, The Forecaster. Join Host and Artist Emily Sabino as she welcomes Artist John Knight to the stage. This is a free series of one on one conversations between Emily and artists and curators who have made a substantial contribution to the arts in the state of Maine.
