Coastal Rivers offers Valentine’s Day guided hike in Bremen
Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust invites all to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a naturalist-led hike in Bremen on Friday, Feb. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. Coastal Rivers’ resident naturalist, Sarah Gladu, director of Education and Community Science, will lead a hike along the Hilton O’Connor Trail through the Bremen Town Forest.
The trail passes through a small field and descends towards the Medomak River estuary to a salt marsh and winding stream. The loop is just over a mile and the pace will be leisurely, allowing plenty of time for discussion about nature along the way. Gladu will discuss the history of the landscape based on rock walls, tree shapes, and waterways. The group will also look for signs of wildlife to learn how wild animals are faring through the winter.
This program is free of charge, thanks to Coastal Rivers member support.Participants should expect wintry conditions underfoot so wearing crampons is highly recommended. Registration is required at coastalrivers.org/events. Parking is at the Bremen Town House and Fire Station. For the safety of the group, during this guided hike, dog owners are asked to leave their dogs at home. Binoculars and protection against ticks are also recommended.
