Boys State, Girls State delegates chosen

Wiscasset High School juniors were recently chosen as delegates to the 2014 Dirigo Boys State and Dirigo Girls State programs. Boys State will be held at the Thomas College in Waterville June 15-19 and Girls State will be held at Husson College in Bangor June 15-20.
Chosen as delegates to Boys State are Ridge Barnes and Matthew Craig. Girls State delegates are Maeve Carlson and Hannah Welborn, with Miranda McIntire chosen as an alternate.
These students were chosen by a vote of the faculty based on involvement in school and community, interest in government and attitude versus scholastic achievement. The programs give students a hands-on opportunity to learn first hand how state and local government work.
This year’s Boys and Girls State Delegates were sponsored by Carl M.P. Larrabee Insurance Agency, Ames Supply and The Bradford-Sortwell Wright Post 54 Auxiliary.
