Local College Transitions program launches public access TV show, ‘Get Smart!’
This week, The Lincoln County College Connection and Lincoln County Television will launch the first episode of “Get Smart!”, a new public access TV show that showcases non-traditional students bound for a college degree who took their first steps toward their degree by completing a local, free Maine College Transitions program.
The first episode features Michael Howland, a 25-year-old Newcastle native, being interviewed on the Southern Maine Community College, South Portland campus by college transitions coordinator, Vanessa Richards. Howland describes how he discovered and benefited from The Lincoln County College Connection program when he was enrolled two years ago, as well as how he is succeeding and having fun as a student at SMCC during his first three semesters. With humor, the opening and closing credits loosely emulate the original 1960s TV show, “Get Smart.”
The first episode airs on LCTV Channel 7, Thursday, July 10; Friday, July 11; and Sunday, July 13; at several diverse times of the day. It is also possible to see the program online at any time at www.lctv.org. For more information about this show and your local, free college transitions programs, visit the The Lincoln County College Connection website, www.ct4me.org, or call Vanessa Richards at 207-975-6176.
