Sheriff's report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On September 20, Deputy Brian Collamore was dispatched to a report of a theft of a political sign in the town of Dresden. The complainant stated what sometime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., someone stole a sign about Referendum 1 from the side of the roadway. Further investigation should any leads come forth.
On September 21, Deputy Scott Hayden responded to a report of a burglary to a residence in the Westport Island area. The complainant stated that sometime since August 31, someone(s) broke into his seasonal residence and stole numerous items. This case was forwarded to the CID division.

On September 17, Christopher Chapman, 21, of Wiscasset – Failure to stop at a stop sign – Route. 1/27 Intersection, Wiscasset – Sgt. Jason Nein.
On September 21, Sean Oliver, 24, of Newcastle – Speeding 49 MPH in a posted 25 MPH speed zone – Academy Hill Rd., Newcastle – Sgt. Jason Nein.
Recent Traffic Accident
On September 20, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Shannon L. Schmelzer, 25, of Farmingdale and Abbey E. Hutchins, 16, of Southport Island. Ms. Schmelzer was operating her 2011 Nissan northbound and Ms. Hutchins was following behind Schmelzer in her 2011 Volvo C30. Schmelzer slowed for a vehicle turning and Hutchins struck the rear of her vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
