Apples at Story Time
Applesauce, apple cider and apple pie! This is the time of year for apples and the children at this week’s story hour learned about apples in a few different ways.
We used MacIntosh apples cut in half vertically to make apple prints. With three different shades of paint, the children made creative bags and cardstock pictures with the apple design.
While the paint dried, we read Apples For Everyone by Jill Esbaum which gave an overview of the growth cycle of an apple.
The next two stories, Apple Cider Making Days by Ann Purmell and Applesauce Season by Eden Ross Lipson were both fun stories about family traditions in the fall with apples.
After our painted bags were dry, we all headed outside to see if maybe there were any apples from trees in the library’s backyard, and there were! Our artistic bags came in handy for gathering the apples that had “fallen” from the trees.
Story Time takes place each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and all are welcome to enjoy great books and activities that follow.
