Feed Our Scholars yoga event Jan. 1
What a wonderful way to start the new year!
Susan Gallagher, yoga instructor, is offering an hour’s yoga event on Jan. 1 at 11 a.m. in St. Philip’s hall at 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset. The event is by donation, and all proceeds go to Feed Our Scholars, the local initiative to provide weekend bags of nutritionally balanced food for Wiscasset school children living in food insecure circumstances.
Gallagher, a Westport Island resident, decided to obtain certification as a yoga instructor after back surgery. In order to climb back to good health, she used the yoga stretches to loosen her tightened muscles and tendons.
Realizing how beneficial the practice is, she decided to become an instructor and help others gain the greater flexibility and ease of movement that she has discovered. Susan received a 200 hour RYT certification in 2014. She is ready to share her expertise, and how wonderful for Feed Our Scholars that she has offered this opportunity to help raise funds to support the cause.
“The class will be an easy to moderate vinyasa flow with plenty of sun salutations to ring in the new year,” Gallagher said. “This class is to help a very worthy cause and to have some fun, get some stretching and get your body moving. Please bring a mat and a pillow.”
So, after an evening of merriment, plan to grab that pillow, mat and money, and find your way to St. Philip’s in Wiscasset. Rid yourself of all those stresses from 2014, and treat yourself to a healthful start to 2015.
