Clay bowl benefit supper Jan. 7 at high school
As people know, the winter is a hard time for many groups within a community. Our Arts and Humanities class at Boothbay Region High School decided to do a benefit supper, but of course, we had to incorporate art into our event in some way. The decision was that we would make clay bowls and host a soup and salad supper.
Each student participated during class, molding and glazing two bowls each. The first bowl was created from terracotta clay and constructed using the “coil method” and the second was made from a low fire white clay and constructed using the “slab method.”
At the supper we will sell our handmade bowls and customers can choose to either use their purchased bowls or a paper one for their supper. The cost for dinner alone will be $8; which will include soup, salad, bread and dessert. Supper and a handmade bowl will be $12.
The class voted to have the money that we raise go to the ASPCA, but after further discussion, we came to the conclusion that we would donate locally to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter and Humane Society located in Edgecomb, where we hope that it will do the most good.
Please join us on Wednesday, Jan. 7 in the BRHS cafeteria from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to raise money to benefit our local animal shelter.
