The May 13 meeting of the Boothbay Region Garden Club will feature an explanation of Duo Design by Sandra Leonard, a member of the club. Leonard is a nationally accredited master flower show judge. She judges many shows annually and was honored to judge the Philadelphia Flower Show.

Leonard grew up in Bangor and lived in many countries traveling with her former husband who served in the U.S. Coast Guard. While living in Japan, she developed her love of flower design, in a serious way, by studying Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement.

Her presentation of Duo Design will include two classes of flower design in a single container. Club members will then create their own designs. They are asked to bring a container and flowers from their gardens. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 13 at 1 p.m. at St. Columba’s Church on Emery Lane. Everyone is welcome.
