Get ready for The Nth Power
If funk, soul and jazz gets your groove on, don’t miss The Nth Power at Mine Oyster this weekend.
The New Orleans-based band features Nikki Glaspie, drums; Nick Cassarino, Nate Edgar, bass; Courtney J'Mell Smith, keyboards; and Weedie Braimah, percussion. The band is currently on tour promoting its new EP, “Basic Minimum Skills Test,” and Boothbay Harbor is their only Maine concert date.
“They will grab your attention and your imagination, taking you on a euphoric space cruise that visits the planets known as Funk, Gospel, Jazz, Neo-Soul, R&B and World-Beat,” said Andy Shapiro, the band’s booking agent and manger, on ReverbNation.
Ralph Smith of Mine Oyster, and Angus Webster, booking agent for the restaurant/club, worked some magic to get the band here for not one, but two nights. Free.
”They’re really psyched to be coming here,” Webster said. The band will be staying in a private home in the area and enjoying a lobster bake and boat ride while they’re in Boothbay Harbor.”
Smith added, “Usually this band would pull a $25 to $30 cover charge ... we’re lucky.”
So put on your dancing shoes and hot foot it on down to Mine Oyster Friday, Aug. 28 and/or Saturday, Aug. 29 for one hell of a late summer party!
