Two new winter classes with artist John Butke
Attention all frustrated artists: New Year’s resolutions can be kept. If one of yours happens to be to learn how to draw or paint, the Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) has just the thing for you.
Artist John Butke of The Butke Gallery on Sawyer’s Island will be teaching two new winter classes, spanning seven weeks, at BRAF.
Both classes are $15/class with the fee paid as you go. Pre-registration is required.
“Projects in Drawing,” starts Tuesday, Jan. 5. This class is designed to improve drawing skills for beginner and intermediate levels. Students will be using pencil, pen, charcoal and brush; and subjects include structured-contour, perspective, still life, and class models. This class will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.
“Painting Workshop,” will be held on Friday, Jan. 8. This course is designed for students to develop and produce a finished painting by stages of guided instruction. Intended for both beginner and intermediate levels, each student will use their preferred choice of medium (oil, acrylic or watercolor). Teaching will be geared to individual needs. This workshop will also be held from 1 to 4 p.m.
John G Butke has over 30 years of experience in art education, teaching students from elementary school through college. Butke is accomplished within various media including oil, watercolor, and acrylic.
Classes will be held in Boothbay Region Art Foundation’s upstairs classroom. BRAF is located at located at One Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor.
