New art show at The First National Bank
The Boothbay Region Art Foundation is sponsoring the show of Deborah L. Simard at The First National Bank in Boothbay Harbor in February and March.
This exhibit features the artist's large atmospheric seascapes. All of these paintings are done in acrylics.
Simard grew up in California and credits her La Jolla middle school art teacher for getting her a start in art. This teacher sent one of her assignments to San Diego State University to be considered for a summer art conservatory there. Not only was Simard's work selected, but she was accepted to study life drawing and painting – at the college level.
Simard received an art scholarship from the University of California after high school.
In 1972 she moved to Hawaii where she opened two galleries.
Simard is a seascape artist whose works feature Hawaii, California and Maine in acrylics, oils and watercolors. She is inspired by coastal sunsets, and the power of light and atmosphere to invoke our connection to the divine in nature and ourselves as we appreciate the beauty of our world.
All of the art in the show is for sale. To contact the artist call 207-776-0676 or email debsimard@gmail.com.
The bank is located at 77 Oak Street. Call for hours of operation, 207-633-5149, or just stop by.
