'River Arts' 8th Annual Member Show' opening May 27
River Arts in Damariscotta, invites the public to the opening reception of its 8th Annual Member Show, Friday, May 27 from 5-7 p.m. The artwork submitted by members for this reflects the artist choice free from the constraints of a themed show. The 90 works on exhibit represent a wide variety of media and styles and include sculptures. The exhibition runs through June 21.
Local and regional artists in the show include Helen Warner of Edgecomb; Lindsay Haywaka of West Boothbay Harbor; Leonard Meiselman, Judi Taylor of Wiscasset; Sarah S. Harvey, Dan Peterman, Woolwich.
In addition, visitors can view an exhibition in the West Gallery featuring the artwork of Sandi Cirillo who has been a fiber/mixed media artist for over 25 years specializing in creating artwork which pleases the eye and craves to be touched. The inspiration for her work focuses on the textural qualities of manmade and natural fibers which she incorporates into her artwork. Her work reflects her love of traveling throughout Maine where she lives and her appreciation of the natural environment around her.
Cirillo is a retired art educator who gives many different fiber workshops in the Northeast and North Carolina. She teaches many of her workshops in collaboration with various arts centers throughout the Northeast, undergraduate and graduate courses at Alfred University and Nazareth College in New York state. Cirillo is currently teaching drawing and fiber classes at Senior College in Belfast.
River Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed Mondays.
