Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty is currently hosting the work of acclaimed artist Kevin Beers at their Damariscotta Office located at 170 Main Street.

Beers lives in Thomaston, but returns each summer for four months to his beloved Monhegan Island.

“Monhegan is a dazzling place with incredible, beautiful light. It is such a remote and untouched island,” said Beers. “I love to paint the buildings on the island—the color and structure of weathered buildings, the patterns of sunlight and shadow, and the sharp contrast between a red roof, white clapboards, and bright blue sky.”

Beer is frequently found on Manana Island fulfilling his passion for painting old trucks. The strong shadows in Beers’ work quickly remind of Hopper, but the flowing brushwork is all Beers.

All are invited to a reception for the artist on Friday, June 17 from 4-7 p.m. being held in conjunction with the Twin Village Art Walk. Refreshments will be served.
