Two more chances to experience St. Philip’s delicious fish chowder
Rich haddock chowder, generous salad bar, corn bread, and a delectable dessert table await hungry chowder lovers at St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset. There are two more chances to experience the friendly atmosphere while savoring the star of the evening: the fresh fish chowder. For those who aren’t chowder eaters, St. Philip’s has a vegetarian vegetable soup available, as well as vegan hot dogs upon request.
Saturday, July 30, then again on Saturday, August 13, both days from 5:30 to 7 p.m. are the last opportunities this summer to take advantage of the 36th season for the highly regarded dinners. And, the best part? The charge for an adult is only $10, while a child under 12 is only $5. What a deal!
While attending the supper, be sure to buy tickets for the Church Steeple Fund’s raffle. St. Philip’s has been awarded a matching grant from the Maine Community Foundation to help fix its lovely and historically significant steeple so that it continues to grace the Wiscasset skyline for years to come. As the first of a series of fundraising events, the raffle’s prizes include a very special, totally hand sewn quilt created by award-winning quilter, Helene Gilhooley. Second prize is a cord of firewood courtesy of Al Smith of Waldoboro, and third prize is a $50 gift certificate to Fisherman’s Catch fish market in Damariscotta. Each ticket is $1, with a book of six tickets for $5.
Saturday, the 30th, could include a good meal, the chance to win a prize, and to help support a good cause. For more information or to make a reservation — not necessary but appreciated — call St. Philip’s at 882-7184. Leave a message including your name, number in the party, and a return phone number for verification.
