‘Still Life with Pottery’ at Treats in Wiscasset
Diane Langley, a Maine artist known for her atmospheric landscapes, will exhibit a new body of work at Treats. Her series, “Still life with Pottery” will run from Sept. 22 through Oct. The work is fresh, colorful and imaginative. Stop by Treats, at 80 Main Street in Wiscasset, on Thursday, Sept. 29 from 5-7 p.m. and meet the artist.
Almost a year and a half ago Langley’s home studio, a one room schoolhouse, experienced major damage and had to be gutted - right back to the studs. The artist lost her studio and her enthusiasm. But now her muse is back.
To renew her sense of wonder, Diane has attended retreats at Vermont Studio Center, Great Spruce Head Island, Anam Cara Artists and Writers Retreat in Beara, Ireland. She also created her own retreat in Ireland, Italy and Portugal and at home on Westport Island.
Langley is already at work on a different series she calls disappearing tide pools.
An alumnus of University of Maine Augusta (AA) and University of Southern Maine (BFA), Langley also holds a master’s degree from Vermont College in Montpelier, Vermont.
She has exhibited at Lake Forest College and Beara Community Arts Festival, and was invited to exhibit in the Maine Craft Association’s Inspired Hand with four encaustic pieces.
Langley is represented by Yvette Torres Fine Art in Rockland.
